Sámi synonymat is an application used to find synonyms to Sámi words. This application includes over 16.000 word entries. It is based on the groundwork of Jovnna-Ánde Vest. Many of the words included are old words, from before the time of computers.
The application makes it easy to search for words by filtering out all entries that do not include the search text.

The app is meant for people who want to learn the Sámi language.  The app contains a smart search function for easy word lookups.  Verbs, Nouns, Adverbs, Adjectives, Conjunctions, Numerals and Pronouns are all included.

There are categories such as history, politics, sports, traditional knowledge, language, literature, music and more. 
​All these categories have possible Achievements.  For each question you can choose between two random categories. 

Sámi - Norwegian Dictionary

This Dictionary App includes over 30.000 Northern Sámi words translated to Norwegian and Finnish. The search function can be used find words and translations fast. The App is made using free and open-source materials from Giellatekno, Centre for Saami Language Technology at the UiT The Arctic University of Norway.

Why Sámi Apps?

We, the Sámi people, are indigenous to four different countries: Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia. Most of the different Sámi languages, in all these countries, are gravely endangered or already extinct.

​Apps give, children and adults alike, more ways to play, learn and interact in our own language on a daily basis. 

Sámi App Making  can be categorised as a cultural trade and a livelihood in the same vein as Sámi Film, Theatre, Art and literature, which are all important for Sámi culture.
